Team pdLIFE had a strong showing at Moving Day Tampa Bay with a sea of lime shirts, lively exercise demonstrations, and our fearless leader as the MC.
We raised >$1,000 as a team and are thankful to the Parkinson's Foundation for supporting pdLIFE with a community grant!
pdLIFE and Nova Southeastern University provided a FREE intensive weekend course for over 30 Bay Area healthcare providers for advanced Parkinson's physical therapy and occupational therapy training.
Providers attended from Pinellas, Pasco, Hillsborough, and Hernando Counties.
We had a wonderful day with 30 competitors completing the obstacle course! Thank you to our sponsors from Abbott, Acorda, The Bradenton Research Center, and Nike! Our Parkinson's warriors loved being outfitted in new kicks!
Valerie, Brittany and Meredith collaborated with leaders in the PD community in our nation's capital! We also got our sweat on with the fabulous Jimmy Choi for an early morning workout!
In January of 2021 and 2022, our hardworking team applied for and received Parkinson's Foundation community grants. Running from from 6/21-6/22 and then again 6/22-6/23 these grants have supported our Tampa exercise classes, community outreach and a scholarship program. We are honored and grateful!
pdLIFE had a stellar cardio drumming demonstration by Michelle at The Parkinson's Foundation's Moving Day Tampa Bay this year.
April is now Parkinson's Awareness Month! We're extremely grateful that Parkinson's Disease is getting more attention. For every person that learns about the disease, we get one step closer to further research funding and medical treatments, as well as social recognition and support from the rest of the community.
We hosted our first pdLIFE Challenge obstacle course event at Macfarlane Park! 11 obstacles on over a mile long course, conquered!

Meredith and Kim participated in education of the stellar Rock Steady Boxing coaches at Coach Con in Orlando on topics including: Brain Boosts, Red Flags, and Atypical Parkinsonisms. We had a great time spending time with the front line PD fighters/ exercise instructors. What an inspiration Jimmy Choi is! Great to see him LIVE and doing burpee push-ups on stage :)
Meals on Wheels of Tampa joined us after exercise class to bring lunch and information about their wonderful organization!

The new OT to the Potentia Therapeutics team presented at the monthly support group meeting to teach their fighters about how OT can improve your quality of life.
The Florida heat is on, so we have moved our Park classes inside the community center: The Barksdale Center @ Macfarlane Park, thank you Lisa Bryant for all your hard work to help us beat the heat.
Our pdLIFE gang supported the Parkinson Foundation Moving Day Tampa Bay on the YMCA Team Mover's and Shakers and CONGRATS to Cheryl and Paul for their substantial fundraising for team Paul's Peleton. She was the #1 fundraising team leader in Tampa Bay! You go girl!
Outcome measures to gauge our member's gait speed, strength, and stamina were performed. Our participants were rewarded with a pizza party after!
Thursday 4/29/21 we had a great time attending the Delay the Disease exercise class! We followed up class with a pizza lunch in learn that included a tough quiz to spread PD knowledge on one of the final days of Parkinson's Awareness Month.
4/12/21 We had an abbreviated exercise class of PWR! moves and Tai chi to showcase our weekly exercises followed by an amazing potluck! So much fun and good food had by all!
